It’s Global Community Involvement Month in the office and they have sponsored several charity events all weekends of September.  I was able to participate in this week’s event which is at Tahanang Walang Hagdanan.  I woke up early and was really anxious to see how it goes.  I was with some of my teammates and of course some of the employees and bosses of Dell..

When we got there, we went straight to the main hall where the kids were already waiting for us and some of the residents of the place.  There were programs presented and we shared our time especially with the kids.  We met Tin-tin, Paula, Kerubin & Jewel, who spent time with us.  There were food and games and lots of picture taking.  They also took us for a site tour where we got to see their work.  They have metal crafts where they build wheelchairs, woodcrafts and needlecrafts as well.  It’s amazing how even though they were handicapped, they manage to build a life of their own inside the facility.  They work, they have a family, and even if they don’t have much, they’re happy.  And I can tell from the smiles on their faces, that they appreciate us coming over to give a hand.

It was a very fulfilling day, and I’m thankful that Dell has this initiative, and I got to give my share to the community.  I can say that I’ve done something good for today.
